PEZA Conducts Investment Roadshow in Switzerland
The
Philippine Embassy in Berne, in cooperation with the Swiss-Asian
Chamber of Commerce (SACC), successfully organized in Switzerland two
investment promotion events of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority
(PEZA) led by Director General Lilia de Lima, with the theme “The
Philippines – Your Business Partner in Asia.”
In the two
investment seminars - in Zurich on 26 October 2011 and Lausanne on 27
October 2011 - Dr. De Lima made a presentation on the opportunities
for foreign investors in Philippine Economic Zones.
Dr. De Lima
elaborated on the competitive incentives in PEZA zones, the “best
in the world” Filipino workers, and the “no-corruption, no
red-tape – only red-carpet” culture in these zones. These PEZA
“attractions” greatly impressed the participants and encouraged
them help promote the Philippines, if not consider closer business
engagement with the Philippines.
Ambassador
Leslie J. Baja, in his welcome remarks, pointed to the expansion of
the economic relations between the Philippines and Switzerland and
highlighted the richness of the country in human resources and its
favorable business climate under the government of President Benigno
S. Aquino.
After the
Zurich and Lausanne business seminars, Dr. De Lima and Ambassador
Baja were invited to the Nestlè headquarters in Vevey. They met
with Mr. Nandu Nandkishore, Executive Vice President for Asia,
Oceania, Africa and Middle East (AOA), who then gave a presentation
on Nestle’s presence in Asia and in particular, the Philippines.
Dr. De Lima
and Ambassador Baja also met with the Filipino expatriates working
with Nestlè who represent the biggest expat group at the Nestlè
headquarters. Nestlè executives expressed appreciation for the
contributions their Filipino workers have made to the company,
emphasizing their professionalism, reliability, good work ethics,
positive attitude and happy disposition.
Following
this investment roadshow of Dr. De Lima to Switzerland, the
Philippine Embassy in Berne will closely coordinate with the Swiss
Asian Chamber of Commerce and the OSEC Swiss Business Network, in
promoting the Philippines as an investment destination.
