The Philippine Embassy in Berne, in cooperation with the Swiss-Asian Chamber of Commerce (SACC), successfully organized in Switzerland two investment promotion events of the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) led by Director General Lilia de Lima, with the theme “The Philippines – Your Business Partner in Asia.”

In the two investment seminars - in Zurich on 26 October 2011 and Lausanne on 27 October 2011 - Dr. De Lima made a presentation on the opportunities for foreign investors in Philippine Economic Zones.

Dr. De Lima elaborated on the competitive incentives in PEZA zones, the “best in the world” Filipino workers, and the “no-corruption, no red-tape – only red-carpet” culture in these zones. These PEZA “attractions” greatly impressed the participants and encouraged them help promote the Philippines, if not consider closer business engagement with the Philippines.

Ambassador Leslie J. Baja, in his welcome remarks, pointed to the expansion of the economic relations between the Philippines and Switzerland and highlighted the richness of the country in human resources and its favorable business climate under the government of President Benigno S. Aquino.

After the Zurich and Lausanne business seminars, Dr. De Lima and Ambassador Baja were invited to the Nestlè headquarters in Vevey. They met with Mr. Nandu Nandkishore, Executive Vice President for Asia, Oceania, Africa and Middle East (AOA), who then gave a presentation on Nestle’s presence in Asia and in particular, the Philippines.
