4 September 2010-Ambassador Maria Theresa P. Lazaro, Philippine Ambassador to Switzerland  addressed Filipino women in Switzerland at a Forum organized by the Philippine Catholic Mission on 4 September 2010 in Zurich. Also present at the event was a Swiss government official in charge of integration who was invited upon the advice of the Embassy.
 
The audience comprised of Filipino women married to Swiss nationals, members of different Filipino associations, religious communities and professionals who have resided in Switzerland for years.
 
In her remarks, Ambassador Lazaro referred to the new Philippine administration of President Benigno S. Aquino III, the overseas Filipinos’ role in Philippine election, and presented an overview of the significance of Philippine representation in Switzerland, its roles and functions particularly in the service of Filipinos abroad. An open forum followed during which Ambassador Lazaro answered questions on Philippine laws and various issues including succession, land ownership, dual citizenship, marriage, divorce, passports, SRRV, etc.
 
The Ambassador extolled the Filipino women’s’ role in Philippine and Swiss societies and encouraged their pro-active participation in activities that will raise the Filipino community’s profile in Switzerland and in projects that will help promote the Philippines.
The organizers conveyed their appreciation for the Embassy’s support particularly for its efforts in reaching out to Filipino communities in Switzerland.
