Philippine Embassy In Berne Celebrates June 12 With Simple Yet Solemn Ceremonies
With the series of events that the Philippine Embassy, Berne has
organized for the month of June to mark the celebration of the 112th
Anniversary of Philippine Independence, a simple yet solemn ceremony
was held on June 12 at the Philippine Embassy premises, with members of
the Filipino community.
Philippine Embassy officials and
staff, led by H.E. Ambassador Maria Theresa P. Lazaro, were
joined by friends from various Filipino groups and
the Filipino religious community in the
observance of Philippine National Day. The day commenced with the
raising of the Philippine flag, and the recitation of the Panunumpa sa
Watawat.
A Holy Mass was then celebrated, to give thanks
for the gift of freedom and democracy, and the
successful conduct of Philippine elections. Prayers
and hope-filled wishes were offered for
President-elect Noynoy Aquino and other newly elected
leaders. Capping the morning event was a sumptuous Filipino
buffet breakfast offered by the Embassy.
